EP02: Starting Your Conscious Personal Growth Journey with Alex Shailer
One of the first steps of your personal growth journey is to work out and decide what you want. And, the majority of people, contrary to popular beliefs do want to do something meaningful, create an impact and do something that gives them joy and fulfilment.
Fear can often get in the way whether its fear of what others may think, fear of the unknown or fear of just doing something different. Fear however, isn’t a bad thing. It’s a primary emotion that as human beings we’ve relied on to keep us safe. The challenge is when it gets in the way when there is actually no danger to us and this can often happen when we are on the journey of growth, self-improvement and bettering ourselves.
This is because the journey of conscious personal growth (and personal growth in general) is often unknown and different. It’s where people don’t want to go as they are fearful of might they might find.
Using practices and developing habits much as mindfulness is a great way to overcome this and connect with our internal selves as everything starts from within us and therefore mindfulness is the foundation for everything because it allows us to do this.

- Opportunities are all around us, and they are often found in the challenges that we face. For example: Climate Change. We could get really down about what is happening right now, or we can use it as an opportunity to create and do something really meaningful.
- Mindfulness is the foundation for everything. It creates greater clarity, awareness and intuition and helps us to find and explore who we truly are.
- Fear is a primary emotion that has been with us since the beginning of time to keep us safe. Without it, in the past we would have been eaten by Saber-toothed Tigers or banished from tribes that could have lead to death. However, our brains know no difference and instead of allowing fear to get the better of us, we must learn how to reprogram it by making logical decisions.
