It was about 10 months ago when I overheard a conversation between my younger brother and our mum all about obtaining knowledge. Now, if you have been following me for a long time you would know I quite often share the importance of learning new things, obtaining new skillsets, and growing as a person.

What struck me about this conversation and I must admit I do see if often is the idea that knowledge alone is enough.

Don’t get me wrong we all have so much knowledge, so many ways we can contribute to the world in a meaningful way, and often we don’t acknowledge how much we do actually know, how many skillsets we actually have and how far we have already come.

The reality is, however, just sitting on all your knowledge will NOT get you anywhere. I mean, what’s the point of continuing to learn, obtaining new skills then not applying what you know, what you learn.

As Bruce Lee once said… “Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.”

And, although this is not easy, it’s easier than you might think. In fact, when you learn something new all you have to do is ask yourself this one simple powerful question and dive into your creative whelm…

Where, When, and How Can I Use This?

You see, the trick is to make what you learn, the new skill you obtain a part of you, a part of who you are, and by asking this question, and finding creative ways to implement it into your daily routine you are well on the way of doing so…

“Knowledge isn’t power until it is applied.” – Dale Carnegie

So, the way I see it is…

Firstly, we must understand the importance of obtaining knowledge, learning new things, and obtaining new skillsets. Secondly, we must put ourselves in the right environment to learn, obtain, and grow as a person…

And, thirdly, every time we learn something new, no matter how small it is we must ask ourselves this question…

Where, When, and How Can I Use This?

And, find creative ways to implement what we have obtained into our daily lives. If you commit to the process and make a habit of implementing what you learn, I am 100% sure you will obtain more, rapidly grow as a person, and will always be moving forwards no matter how small those steps are. Another important point to remember is that it’s easier to do nothing than do to something so take the next step, and try it for yourself today!
